What do they do when there's a "dead satellite in orbit?"

The United States has shot down dead satellites on multiple occasions.

A GOES-R space satellite is 20 ft x 18.4 ft x 12.8 ft
(Much larger than the "Chevy Suburbans" flying over New Jersey.)
