I remember them -- bloody terrible IMO!

I guess the idea of hand-drawn diagrams and hand-written notes
was to make it look like some engineer's private notebook.

Either it was genuinely just that, in which case I couldn't work
up enthusiasm for something where they couldn't take the time and
trouble to type it up properly.

Or OTOH it was faked to look like someone's private notebook, in
which case I wasn't interested in something that needed that kind
of gimmick to be able to sell.

I've seen plenty of other books that gave a more normal
presentation and a lot more gutsy stuff. One that comes to mind
that I saw but didn't buy was called "The Op-Amp Cookbook".
