Allen, lets not be quick to claim a positive from the negative in this case.

There are many echoes right now that are dead as a doornail. They continue to
be E-listed, for reasons I cannot comprehend logically other than the
moderators hanging-on to some faint hope that someday, there will be traffic
in them again. That faint-hope is proven by moderator rule postings like
clockwork in those echoes. As if its going to be 1995 again and suddenly
theres such a big influx of people posting that we JUST NEED to have RULES.

Every so often, someone comes along and posts something... so that stirs up
the pot, or stirs up shit, one of the two. And theres momentary traffic in
those areas once more but it quickly tapers off, and cue the crickets
chirping again and the robotic rule posts that quite frankly I ignore.

Ed's message struck a nerve not because it was trying to stir things up, but
because it was posted to SO MANY echoes. And the intent was to drive traffic
to HIS system, not Fido as a whole. Any positive that comes from that is
due to his blatent disregard for his fellow Sysops.
