INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS - QUICKEN ver. 4 for Windows
I have been struggling with the train of thought, phrasing, and logic
of Quicken for a couple of years now. It seems as if the person(s) who
wrote this program (and especially the manual) have a grasp of the
English language but not an every day working knowledge. To me, the
way the material is presented is vague and remote... almost as if it
was designed to be cryptic.
For example, if you set up a new investment account called XYZ and
then click BUY, a BUY SHARES dialog box opens. After filling in the
date, the next entry requires "SECURITY". I have already defined the
name of this account as XYZ. I do not understand the purpose or intent
of this entry. When you open the SECURITY pull-down list, it shows
accounts already in use that have nothing to do with my newly created
XYZ account. If you click HELP, the directions begin with...
1. Entering the number of shares bought or sold --completely skipping
discussion of the date entry field and "security" field.
Does anyone understand the logic or intent of this field? Reading the
manual only causes more frustration and anger.
