Hello Bong,
The best tip I have is run, don't walk, to all of the technically
oriented booksellers in Your neck of the woods, and skim all their Fox
pubs. That will tell you a lot more than we could possibly edify in a
brief message. Keep in mind, if your going from Clip S'87/dB3 up to dBIV
2.0 single user, 95% of your dB Code or Books will Run/Apply directly!
With that caveat, I know a couple or 3 titles I would like to
mention. The first is small and kind of a cross between the FP Quick
Reference and Commands & Functions (good for Clients who grab the phone
each time they cannot remember a name). It Is called "The Complete FoxPro
2.5 Language Reference" (covers both DOS & Windows versions) from SYBEX
in Alameda, CA by D McClanahan and is only $14(I saw it for $8 recently).
On the other end of the spectrum is "PC Magazine Programming FoxPro"
2.5 by Miriam Liskin. I think this is the most comprehensive work I have
seen. Experts may not like this one because it has a lot of introductory
level material to skip around. It is 1520 pages and comes with all the
source code from the books examples on a 3.5 diskette and lists for $40.
A much more advanced title is named "FoxPro 2.6 Codebook" by Y. Alan
Griver. It too includes all the source code on a CD-ROM disk and costs $50.
This is good one to have on your bookshelf because many of the Codebook's
guidelines have become the de facto standard for FoxPro coding practice.
Happy bookhunting,
den
P. S. (The latest version of FP for MS-DOS is 2.6A)
