Running DOS or W32?

If DOS, you are probably calling from a batch file. If Win32, depends on
how you call it. You can either set it globally (via the system control
panel if memory serves), or if you are calling ele from a mailer (as I am)
then you can set the variable in the calling bat/cmd file.
