But the folks who run the media will make out like bandits. Look at the sort of thing you can get on satellite radio or some of the cable "music" channels, where it's continuous music, as compared to the absolute *crap* that's on broadcast radio these days. I don't care what station it is, it's all the same crap, "formats" and such nonsense, them telling you all the time how terrific they are while stomping on the stuff they're playing, not to mention all the commercials and the other nonsense. I used to listen to the radio all the time, almost always had some kind of music on. And now I haven't had one on in months at least, and don't particularly miss it. TV is not all that different, you either put up with loads of crap or you pay for the privilege of not having to. Not to mention that when they finally do shove all that digital stuff down our throats and do away with analog broadcasting entirely, then there will be all that much more spectrum for the politicians to "auction" off and collect yet more money from. The money is what it's all about, really. There are way too many folks out there who'd like to see most of us paying, not just to buy a copy of music but to pay for the privilege of listening to it at all, or to watch any tv at all, and pay per view, pay a monthly bill, it doesn't matter... ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
