AC> What is the advantage in doing that? When did you last need to
AC> put an ASCII 0x01 as the first character of a paragraph in a
AC> message? What if I want to put an ASCII 0x01 in the subject
AC> line? :-)
BL> The existing PKT format can't send graphics, except as uuencodes
BL> in 6-bit instead of 8-bit, in order to remove control codes and
BL> hi-ascii.
Why do you want to remove hi-ascii?
BL> This not only adds processing time to the sequence, but it
BL> makes the uuencode 30% larger.
You should do your comparisons after it is zipped. The difference
on a uuencoded zip file is more like 10%.
BL> Of course, we still have the problem of the nul terminator.
Which you have with your dopey idea of putting it on the subject
line too. Why don't you want to remove control characters and
hi-ascii on the subject line too? BFN. Paul.
