It was always my theory that it takes about 2 generations to realize
something we've Determined to be so.
"Creating an ambient atmosphere" I call it -- and it cuts both for good
and ill, alack.
Unfortuntately, across the troubles our species is prone to, this is not
universally true. [Some change just doesn't wanna happen, though we
nibble away at the edges -- of given Should be Fixed -- with hope that
the walls may yet come tumblin' down.]
But some small "victories" may be still claimed (may they be permanent,
not tenuous).
I admit I'm "chuffed" at the integration of women across the armed forces
in the current Mid-East.
[Regardless of how I may feel about us being there so let's not start
THAT discussion.]
But then, I'm Celt to the bone, and the blood of Boadacea runs hot in the
women of my family
(my mother, who HATES pistols, outshot the instructor on the qualifying
range when she was deputized as Deputy Constable to back up Dad, re:
handling/serving papers... We may not choose war, but don't think we
can't wage it.)
=cough=
regardless.
and meant to be a hear-hear! and not spike counter-discussion
LONG road to Enlightenment yet -- sometimes I think we can't even see
higher 'n the foothills, tygress
