Ok, I've just downloaded the current stable versions of fastlist and smapi.
I read the notes in INSTALL etc and set /etc/ld.so.conf with /usr/local/lib
Then copied the smapi directory in ./fastlist/includes then
ran ./configure
make
Try that and let me know.
