that's why I never did. I regularly connect with another
system that *is a member, so could derive a feed from him
for those things which would be of interest to myself and my small user
base. I know a lot of those echoes are gated
newsgroup content, hoepfully with the noise and spam from
China filtered . But, I figure if they're not interested enough
to answer queries from interested potential members
maybe the filtration ain't that great either. Hence, I"ll
look at the newsgroups that actually originate the content
I"d like to get for the system from fn and use the old
filter between the ears to take care of the junk. Example,
when the big push to pre-season starts I"ll look at a couple of
baseball newsgroups for a few days. IF there's relevant
traffic, stayed tuned in, maybe even de-lurk. IF not,
byebye .

YEp, and one reason many who used to utilize fidonet think
that we're no longer in existence. THings that should have
happened while we were a major player or close to it didn't
and .... you know the rest. US diehards are still out here
doing it .

true, and if I should decide to link up, they'll remain, but otherwise,
they're not something that's downlink requestable here, hence no
information about them needs to be retained.
IF one downloads the elist archive in its raw form from
here, it's unedited, otherwise, my automation nukes anything
*not* fidonet, and that's the easiest way to do it is filter on the man's
last name .
Just simplifies things here, etc.

Yah, am still a member myself, and an NTS area net manager
which means I'm considered field organization staff. I
disagree strongly with some very closely and dearly held
positions of theirs these days, but I"ll keep fighting from
the inside .

SPeaking of which, you might appreciate some of what's going on elsewhere.
CHeck out those emcomm monthly issues I cause to be hatched out in the
hamnews file echo.

TL> Yep.....

YEp, think I mentioned it when a question was asked in
amateur_radio a few months back >
