Assuming it is lawfare.  With Trump, some of the accusations were obviously
exaggerated if not fabricated. In Gaetz's case, he apparently was pretty
boastful to fellow Republicans about his exploits, and some of them were not
at all impressed.

With turnover in recent administrations being what it is, I am sure Trump
could have found Gaetz a place to reward him with after Gaetz had been
cleared.
