It depends on who your customers are. Google has never dictated to me what
apps I can and cannot run on my Android devices.
If your customers are non-techies, then, ya, Google controls alot (but Apple is
even worse). If your customers are at least semi-technical, then you can get
around the Google restrictions.

Google's hold is breaking every day. People just have to accept less
functionality for a bit. But it's happening.
