RC> I have received a clarification email from Bob Klahn. RC> Those of you that imbibe in DEBATE echo.. RC> Just because Bob Klahn is the moderator of DEBATE, and that he or his RC> viewpoints can be considered as a joke of sorts, Gee, how non-judgemental. HORK! ;P If someone doesn't Nazi goose step they are a joke? RC> provides you with no RC> license to openly or otherwise defy him as the rightful moderator of the RC> DEBATE echo. RC> The CROSSFIRE echo was created in part because of the way that echo and RC> POL_INC were moderated, as in with a hair trigger. Obviously, to an outsider, I see it otherwise. The Pol_Inc mod is the only one I've seen as hair triggered, if only because he's not very bright and is "power mad". He had another echo before Pol_Inc and I witnessed the same over-moderation. The God thing is in his name! In either DEBATE or Pol_Inc it was and IS the sewer sharks that are more the problem, IMO, though. They are on FIDO to fuck with people...NOT to engage in honest debate! Note the Jeff/Mimi combo, for instance. RC> However the moderators of those echoes still have authority over them, RC> it matters not that you personally dislike the moderator or find them to RC> be a joke, buffoon or otherwise. RC> I have received to date one request to forcibly remove one of you from RC> the DEBATE echo, Klahn has conceded that he was behind in his message RC> and said he will look again before confirming this request, but said RC> request will be honored once he presents it again and informs the RC> affected party. RC> People, dont go out of the way to create more work for me, everytime I RC> get such a request, I have to assign the echo a special access flag, RC> then add that flag onto everyones entry whom is not affected by a access RC> cut, therefore anyone without that flag cannot access, its just a pain RC> in the ass. RC> If a moderator suspends you, just honor it. It's obvious that you're addressing the sewer sharks, which is good. But I'd like to offer some opinion of the whole thing. (because I like to write) Personally, I don't believe that moderators are needed. Because people have the ability to twit or ignore those persons that "offend their sensibilitys". And every moderator action I've EVER seen has been over personal insult or threat...always being much ado about nothing. And I've seen people that never get sanctioned do MUCH worse to echoes. They just act like assholes continually (under the veil of repectablity), thus making the echo unpleasant to the point of distraction. Now, of course, people can look away...BUT the heavy hand of authoritarianism is still there when mods are present, and a sense of unfairness abides. And even YOU (above) complain of over moderation. I always go back to Holysmoke. Holysmoke was best when Steve Q. was gone! People fought and flamed and insulted...and it was GREAT! We still all had a great time WITH topical arguments happening all the time! Then Steve would pop in and go nuts moderating and everything would grind to a fucking halt. Of course the echo you speak of IS it's own country with it's own ruler...but if you have to be it's enforcement agency why should anyone that disagrees with the system wanna give the "pig" an easier time? Them's my two cent. I appreciate your work in helping people to grab FIDO though. 'Cause I think FIDOnet offers something no other venue can. It's just sad that there are disgusting people, like the sewer sharks, that use this great venue to taunt and tease and heckle and disrupt good and honest debate.
