BM-> Jay, I know NASDS does require a 200 yard swimming test for it's
BM-> students. I have no idea what they did prior or what the
BM-> Recreational Scuba Training Council mandates. I'm sure you are aware,
BM-> but there are no laws that govern the requirement for scuba
BM-> certification, but it's something the industry itself tries to do as
BM-> far as policing itself.
That's interesting! When I took the course I was told swimming was not a
requirement. I wonder why, and if it was something the instructor just
doesn't
do. For the PADI classes I help with 8 lengths of the pool is required,
something that would have taken me all night to complete with a dog-paddle.
still do not consider myself a swimmer, but I can swim, I'm just not
graceful.
