  Actually,  the  "curtain"  began  to dissapear since 1985, the time,
when the events  like "perestroyka",  "glasnost",  etc.
 started   up,
when Michael Gorbachev got the power.

  BTW, after the fall of the "german wall", NATO broke all agreements
and  don't  kept  any  promices,  that  was  given to the USSR and to
Russia.  So  they  had  build  the new "iron curtain", the curtain of
distrust. Somebody could say, that  the "iron curtains"  between  the
countries all over the world will never dissapear (once and for all).
