subject: why doesn`t this work?

I have "disgrace" all over the place, in many other spots and it doesn't
seem to matter any.

You're the third one to suggest that possibility...
I did, though. Did it again in the past few minutes, since I added a
couple of file areas and then ran FB to top it off.
I dunno. I'll get it figured sooner or later...
This provoked me into poking around some more. I don't know why, but the
file MESSAGE.MNU in the MENUS subdirectory has a date of 28-Apr-97 on it, as
do a bunch of them in that directory. Apparently SILT isn't touching
anything here when I edit MENUS.CTL as I can still quite clearly see "Sysop"
in that file right next to that particular option. I wonder why this is.
It gets even better -- I threw all of the *.MNU files into a zip to make them
not be there, ran silt, and they're *still* not there! Tried running Max,
and it sure knows they ain't there since it couldn't find main and exited
with an error, but why didn't SILT know they weren't there?
This is getting stranger...
I'm gonna see if I can find some more stuff to try here.
