subject: interchange rules

-> We've been having an interesting discussion lately on our local BBS
-> about old rolling stock. Specifically, we've been looking into the
-> heavy duty flats and depressed center, span bolster type cars.
-> Conrail is still rostering a large block of ex Pennsy cars which,
-> upon some more research, were found to have been built in 1938. I
-> know there's supposed to be some sort of FRA rule on car age,
-> something like 40 years for interchange, but does this also apply to
-> special heavy duty, limited use cars?
->                                K
there were a couple of Depressed center cars that came into Stockton
Cal. a few months ago, with some heavy machinery, came off the SP and
went to the UP and then to the Central California Traction, and then on
to a Cannery in Lodi, don't remember which road owned the car though...
