DR> Do you have one of those cheapy little weaving looms that you can
DR> teach her to make potholders with? They cost about a dollar or two at
DR> WalMart and can keep a child interested for hours. Weaving is a good
DR> skill!
Good idea, but it'll have to wait until July. Money is out for the
month. I used to do this when I was growing up too.
DR> Do you have lots of spools left
DR> over from sewing/quilting projects, or can you get some? She can
DR> string them together like beads or build stuff with them. Speaking of
DR> beading, that is a skill that most K students should have under their
DR> belt. Stringing beads onto a shoelace or string is fun, time
DR> consuming, and has a result.
Naomi has been doing some beading crafts with some of that stretchy
string and some beads grandma bought for her. Ah, she has made her
July 4th necklace already.
DR> Though you say traveling is out, does that mean you can't take her on
DR> a picnic to a nearby park? Let her collect things found
DR> there...pinecones, leaves, rocks or stones....and make a collage from
DR> them.
We have indeed been going to the park, but it costs money to get in
nowadays. We are planning to go to the NW picnic from the cooking
echo if we can carpool with someone. We are also going to be
attending our annual family reunion on July 17th and are busily
doing crafts and stuff to sell at the family reunion. Mom has made
lots of her crocheted dishcloths. I have at least 2 of them and
they last quite a while and are handy in the kitchen.
