I've been buying up Lynx games like crazy the last little while and
just picked up another 3 today, and will get 1 more tommorrow for a
total of about 30 all together, and each and every game seems well
written, full of colour and gaming challenge and excitement, with good
music and some digitized sound.
I didn't even know it had been discontinued until just before Xmas.
You know what really hurts. I've been with Atari from the beginning,
2600, 600XL, 800XL, 130XE, XEGS, 520ST, LYNX, 1040STE, PORTFOLIO, and
all the software and hardware to go with them. I have attacked people
complaining about Atari's lack of interest in promoting their products,
and for what? Apparently nothing. I guess I really knew it was over
when I went to a local All-Atari store and saw they had completely rid
themselves of anything Atari, and this store has been there since the
beginning too. It's sad really.
Excellent products, good software, a loyal user base, and an upper
management that obviously believed that they didn't have to
advertise...that a thriving German market and a niche MIDI market was
going to do it all.
I really feel sorry for those that ran out to buy a Jaguar, the first
Atari product I didn't feel compelled to buy. Now I find myself
yearning for an Aptiva....
