I've heard of the "right to a speedy trial" before, but I don't know if that pertains only to people accused of crimes, or to all people awaiting trial.
I found out the hard way that the right to an attorney (even if you can't afford one) only pertains to people accused of crimes and not to other people in desperate need of an attorney (not for people fighting for child custody.)
So these migrants who are awaiting trial, they aren't accused of a crime, so they don't have the right to an attorney, and they probably don't have the right to a speedy trial either.
