I've used Irex and SBBS together and it seemed to work quite well.
One thing you need to be sure of is to touch the fdrescan.now or
btrescan.now when you toss mail. Even if mail is waiting for a node
and they poll Irex won't know about it unless it has rescanned the
outbound.

With my setup I had to touch btrescan.0. Check your semaphore setup
and make sure the appropriate file is touched after tossing. I'm
not certain if that'll do it but there's a good chance.. :)
