Bzzt. You've made the same mistake as FTS-1. TOPT is used to specify the
point of the _destination_ node.

(There is a leading space in front of the asterisk.)

Saying it should be a 4D address is your interpretation. Certainly a 5D
address is acceptable by the vast majority of FidoNet mail processors and
readers currently being used. It is correct to recommend using 4D
addresses over 2D though.

You haven't actually specified what goes in the part. Very
strictly speaking the system name should go in there (although to a large
degree most folks ignore that part of FTS-4 anyway).

Recently I found some documentation for a pre-version-3.31 of the ConfMail
mail processor, where it gave an example of an origin line where there was
a data part after the first bracket of the origin line address but before
the address itself, eg.

From memory the example I saw had the word "Opus" there. Right
now I can't find the document I refer to though (it's on a disk -
somewhere). Of course, this added part never seemed to have made it into
FTS-4, although the current version of GoldED supports it (calling it a
"netname") but in the GoldED Reference Manual the author
recommends users avoid it.

Andrew
