Well, I've just tried with my Firefox 26, and whether I save then as
..json or .html, it asks me where to put them; the .json defaulted to
desktop and the .html to where I last saved something, but in both cases
it gave me the option to choose somewhere else. It's possible that the
Firefox "ask" setting for page saves and/or downloads might affect how
your bookmark saving happens.
I'd generally save them among my data on my D: partition (probably in
D:\backups\Firefox or something like that), but it's really up to you
where you save them.
