| subject: | CRC cannot remedy canker |
On 23/02/95 the following was uttered by Walter thus
WZ>RT>The package installed fine on my system and was fine when I sent it.
WZ>Maybe a couple of bits fell off the floppy, or someone taken a byte
out WZ>of it in transit.
WZ>RT>Check the following first:
WZ>No problem here, nor did I ever doubt it.
WZ>Like I said, installation failed due to UNZIP.EXE (Major
WZ>part of installation process) being unable to unzip tdw.zip which is
WZ>corrupt. (stuffed in other words)
Just as a matter of interest, I know of a firm that sends a lot of
software through the post on floppy, they have had problems with an
average of 1% of the floppies arriving corrupted. These are good
quality disks and the corruption does not affect the whole disk. How
it happens can be seen to be quite simple, Aust. Post. does not have
the resources to guarantee that all items that your package might be
near are not magnetic, so some packages get corrupted slightly from
stray magnetic sources (shrug?) and you have to take that risk when
things are sent through the post.
Back on topic , Anyone interested in an American old style desktop
case for a Pc ? It can handle aus power but the output leads are a
different type to standard over here. Offers considered.
