Well, Reno's like Denver. Nice in the Sierras, but go East and it gets
pretty empty pretty fast.... unless, of course, you like high desert.
It's in the Sierra rain shadow, however, and, thus, DRY.

Tahoe and the whole Sierra summit areas are exceptional, but they are an
aberration re: Nevada in general.

Sure, you can get up into the hills, which rise like islands across the
South West, and find water and piney woods.
Northern Arizona (e.g. Flagstaff, etc.) you're getting higher, and more
forest/Rocky Mountain climate....
                even snow.
