KT> How did the potatoes turn out?
I've had good luck with potatoes sometimes, didn't do as well
this year. It turned cold and wet after I planted them so a
couple of them rotted. I do have one that is doing real well
though, but had hoped for more.
KT> Have you ever tried growing celery? This is one of my favourite
KT> veggies, but it seems when I buy it in the supermarket, it just tastes
KT> like chemical.. i guess because of the high water content..
Yes, I've grown celery. That is another one I only grow in
containers! Celery is almost a swamp veggie and about impossible
to grow in my sandy soil. I only need one or at the most 2 celery
plants. They need a fairly large container because they have an
extensive root system, guess they need a lot of roots to pump all
that water! I just cut off the stalks as I need them, then new
stalks grow from the centers. This past year I discovered an
herb that is a cutting celery, it grows like parsley but tastes
like celery, you chop the leaves like you would parsley for
seasoning. But it dosn't make the huge stalks that regular
celery does. It's much easier to grow though. I have that in the
ground. Doesn't need near the care that regular celery does.
