    Plans In Motion to Offer 33.6 kbits/s Upgrades In ACCURA Modems
                                   
     Atlanta, GA, 00 June 1996--Hayes Microcomputer Products, Inc. today
announced that it will offer Flash-ROM downloadable upgrades to 33.6
kbits/s speeds to users of its award-winning OPTIMA Business Modem.
Hayes also plans to offer 33.6 kbits/s upgrades in its ACCURA line of
modems.  Details will be available on Hayes Web Site and Bulletin Board
in July.

     Upgrades to 33.6 kbits/s in OPTIMA Business Modems are expected to
be available in Q3 upon completion of Hayes standard quality and
interoperability testing which ensures the robust performance associated
with Hayes brand products.  Upgrades are expected to be made available
prior to formal ratification of the 33.6 kbits/s standard by the ITU-T.
