Gidday Adam....
GR>Ever thought about using a mini/midi stereo system and connecting the
GR>sound card to that? Mine soundz terrific!!!!
AP> Well, think with me on this arrangement. With my little
AP> knowledge of audio, mixed in with the computer forsight, I have come
AP> across with this:
AP> In a Computer Shopper magazine, I saw 300watt speakers
AP> advertised for about 80 bucks. A month later I was told these things
Hmm, yes, remember "BIG" is not always best though. ;-)
AP> many things. First, the high watts will sound REALLY low, and I will
AP> have to amplify the throughput that the sound card is trickling
True, that is why I sugested a reasonable quality mini stereo, or even
a half reasonable gheto-blaster. You will only need to have, as an
extra, a line input and a two-three metre sheilded cable. (Ask your
local hifi store) Remember, you can always disconnect from the
computer and listen to you favorite radio station while lying by the
pool! ;-) (added bonus you see)
AP> through the speakers. Second, shielding might be weak, and with all of
As long as the speakers are at least 60cM away (Oops a couple of feet)
from the screen there should be no problems as far as magnetic fields
affecting the screen is concerned.
AP> this metal around my room... something strange may happen. Third, the
AP> thing pops a day after I get it.
Why should it?
AP> Fourth, they're big and sound horrible up close.
So do most of those add-on computer speakers! IMHO ;-{
AP> Perhaps the 180watts would be a tad more ethical. I don't
AP> know
Assuming you're talking 180 watts RMS, and wanna terrify the
neighbours...... |-)
Iguess what I'm trying to say, is that most "sound cards" can be
connected to almost any stereo system.
