From: "Rich Gauszka" Not new even - just a name change? http://www.playfuls.com/news_06461_Microsofts_HD_Photo_Format_Explained.html Bill Crow, program manager for the Windows Media Photo (the previous name for HD Photo), declared last year during a WinHEC presentation that while developing WMP, Microsoft has kept tight contact with printers producers or digital cameras companies, naming digital photography as "one of the biggest reasons people upgrade their PCs is digital photos". Crow surprisingly added later on his blog that HD Photo is not a new file format, it's just a re-christen of Windows Media Photo (which comes in contrast with Microsoft's press release): "No, it's not another file format. We have re-christened Windows Media Photo as HD Photo. We've listened closely to the feedback from our partners and customers, and in response, we have made some important changes, including this new name."
