He was attacked by another dog just this morning for a total of 15
dog attacks, he still didn't growl or bite.     
Actually he didn't seem to notice.
I interposed my body which wasn't much of a risk considering the dog's 
small size.

Denver county Colorado however has banned the Pit Bull breed entirely
and is euthanizing them all even without a complaint :-(

Now there IS a Pit Bull about 4 blocks from here that would have killed
the dog that attacked mine this morning in a single bite, same dog
nearly killed mine.

Pinellas Animal Control won't label that animal dangerous unless he
attacks yet another.
I lost the use of my left hand for almost six months and the tears
in my dog took a month to heal, two months for bald patches 
scraped bare and hemorragging and general cosmetics.

Something we both are aware of.

I was severely attacked once by a person I didn't know from behind,
I didn't _quite_ go to my knees unconscious from the blow from the club.

Still I refused to issue the attack command the original owners of
Spanky had trained him to.
I knew whatever the circumstances the dog would have been put down.

The dog remained calm and stayed as expected and I even handed his lead
to a stander by to hold while EMT's put a compression bandage on my head
wound.                                                
I was soaked to the waist in my own blood.

Maybe my youthful idealism has been replaced by cynicism
but I fear we're in the minority.
