It cracked a ring, (no it didn't overheat).  I had the choice of 
putting a new set of rings, and probably having to go through the exercise
again a couple of years later when the rest of the components in the engine
finally wore out or going the whole hog and doing it properly in one hit.

The main reason that I am selling is because I now own a VR SS with a HDT 
motor and my wife is complaining that the VK doesnt get the same fuel
consumption as her old Laser when she goes shopping.

Subsequently she wants a 4 cylinder shopping car.
