I think they would be considered legal as long as public financing were
kept to a minimum - after all, we do have single-sex colleges,
single-sex clubs (Rotary was men only, I believe, until just recently)
and even single-sex bars (ladies-only nights, etc.) What makes the
difference is public funding.
As for whether or not women would be attracted to single-sex schools, my
guess would be that there's a limited market, but there'd be enough for
a few such schools to operate.
