The only place I've seen it matter in what I do is with email and logins at
the ISP. (and a few people here who pointed out that this server's clock
was off).
It makes it a real pain to track down something like a spambot if the times
in both email and the login server are not correct. Email headers display
the time with the timezone setting so they will get messed up (that's why
there is a patch for exchange) but the timezone will show as a GMT offset
so it really shouldn't bother anything but maybe some spam filters that
watch for emails coming from the future..
Anything security related I would think would get logged in UTC so
shouldn't be affected by this.
I really don't know why anyone should be bothered by it, I mean there are
tons of things that don't automatically change the time, time of day
thermostats, automatic lights, these all need to be set manually in lots of
cases.
As for computers, mine often have the clocks off by more than 10 minutes
and they still process credit cards, serve web pages, send email, whatever
and it never causes a problem unless the year gets changed to something
beyond 2038.
