heh.. I didn't jump into this thread to argue who is hurting our economy. I
responded to Sander's statement that illegals weren't that large of an
issue and actually contributed to lower produce prices.  Mirkath, SupG, and
Kav brought to light some of the points I was going to mention, so I'll not
repeat them. I don't care if the USA was two days old or two hundred. There
are proper channels to go through if you wish to enter this country
legally, as well as obtaining citizenship.
  As far as buying foriegn farm machinery, heh..  I guess that's up to the
individual, Although I haven't seen any foriegn made farm equipment.
Perhaps it was manufactured overseas, but it carries a US Company's brand
name... ?And as far as cheap imports, heh...  some people shop for the no
name, generic, (read cheap) items. Others tend to buy for quality or
freshness.

Regardless, any job lost or a dollar of tax money spent on an illegal
immigrant, is one less that could have benefited a US citizen.

and it is true that alot of small farmers that use this type of "harvest"
wouldnt make it otherwise .. I guess buying non-american heavy equipment to
harvest produce might be a better way of doing things .. but I dont think
these people are bad .. In fact it would probably be better if we could
selectivly kick out alot of americans and let some of these illegals stay in
the country .. Too many people really forget that the US is not even 250
years old .. and it's made up of "Immigrants" .. I mean take a look around
..
and if it's the american jobs that your worried about .. then just wait till
the produce starts coming in fully on boats .. Clothes + Plastics +
Electronics come in on boats now .. so just get more stuff imported too !!

Perhaps their working for substandard pay does allow Cherokee to buy cheap
produce. However, I wonder how much of Cherokee's tax money goes to waste as
a direct result of these illegal immigrants? Far more than the few pennies
he saves buying cheap produce.
