There's a few devices that have the vocoder in a useable form - the DV Dongle,
the DV-RPTR board (AMBE was an option in earlier model, think built in later
on), there's also another one or two devices that I can't recall the name of. 
Cost is typically between $100 and $200, depending which device you buy.

I prefer to use the Raspberry Pi these days.  Old computers are too expensive
to run. :)
