subject: Suggestion for Future Consideration

Hi Peter,
PK> I think you may need to look a bit closer at the
PK> supplied Maximus Message and File searching
PK> capabilities, the "and/or" option certainly is there,
Ok, I'll ask you where? My original suggestion was to make the
File_Locate function similar to the Msg_Browse function. Therefore, I know
that the Msg_Browse function already has the "and/or" options. If it's also
included in the File_Locate function, please tell me how to access it.
PK> and it can be stacked in a number of ways. IMHO, the
PK> real problem is that many users (and some sysops)
PK> simply do not understand how these types of searches
Apparently you mean me. 8-) I've no problems with the Message
Browse function. I know how to use that. I'm just looking for a similar
function in the File_Locate. You say it's already there. Ok, I've missed
it. Where?
PK> I think perhaps you may have, the supplied Maximus
PK> search can actually have multiple searches being
PK> performed at once, provided you drive the search engine
PK> correctly (and I even stuff it up at times...).
        For FILES? How? Where?
PK> Perhaps the way many people could be helped here is by
PK> providing a customised version of the search that
PK> performs a search for xxx OR yyy, it sounds like this
PK> option is one of the most likely to be required. This
PK> should only require a little MEX coding to arrange.
Actually, I'd prefer the ability to have "AND" included too. Suppose
I want some "view"er program and I want it for "Win95". The "OR" doesn't
help, but the "AND" certainly would. 8-) I suspect that you are right that
a little MEX coding could do it. A little MEX coding probably could produce
a similar Msg_Browse function. I'm just no good at MEX, nor do I have the
time.
 PK> I hope this helps...........pk.
Sorry, but not really. 8-) If, as you say it's already available to
me, please tell me how to use it for the file areas. I have it working fine
for the message areas.
Thanks for trying to get through to this dense head here.
                                                Victor
