Another man's cut on this (no Linux, but rather Mac's BSD):

I'm playing with Opera 9 on Win, and like it so far.  I always have trouble
with Firefox's database (profile) (corruption), and things get worse the
more extensions you load.

Camino and Safari on OSX are *far* faster than FF - native graphics API vs.
semi-interpreted Javaesque one-size-fits-all.  They're also just as buggy.
Maybe this is some artifact on how the LinKernel is treating your graphics?
