-=> Quoting Dennis Martin to Charles Murray <=-
CM> My point Jim they are un-constitutional, where as the state passes
CM> a law and the constitution dose not defend or up hold . I could use
CM> another law , how about you have to show ID to but tobacco unless
CM> you are over 26... but the law for legally buying tobacco is 18 yrs
CM> of age .
DM> Charles, the intent of that law is to keep businesses from
DM> "unknowlingly" selling tobacco to minors wbo "look like they're 18."
DM> By mandating ID checks for people who don't appear to be over 26-27
DM> years of age, then the older looking 16-17 year olds won't be able to
DM> sneak by.
DM> (I'd also support the same ID check responsibility for the purchase of
DM> Alcohol by anyone under the age of 30.)
DM>
DM> BTW: In the past, with only voluntary controls, the only time people
DM> checked ID's for minimum age purchases such as alcohol and tobacco,
DM> was when their sales license was on probation for selling to minors.
DM> One time when I was checking ID's at a local bar, we had to check
DM> everyone, (I carded and 80 year old woman, and boy was she
DM> pleased.)).

I support put goverment controles on everthing and outlawing any and
all personal/provate rights or responsiblities ... Sounds like we are
in total agreement!
