DT> SHAME...... BUT THAT'S LIFE I SUPPOSE!
Although Atari has left us in the lurch regarding the computers,
the Falcon 030 is still supported via C-LAB's licensed Falcon Mk1
and Mk2 - and as far as I've seen, C-LAB has been putting more
support in the Falcon in the last year than Atari has IN THE LAST 2
1/2 YEARS! C-LAB's also just announced a new version of the Falcon
called the MkX which will be in a separate case with detachable
keyboard (tentative date March). They're also providing motherboards
to Computer Direct, the Canadian-based Atari/TOS dealer, for use in
their own Falcon clone in a Tower case to be released sometime this
year.
It's not a perfect situation, believe you me. But thankfully we
now have people who know what they're doing in supporting the TOS
platform - and no Tramiels around to screw it up! Add to that
Gribnifs, System Solutions, ASH, Oregon Research, 16/32, and Compo,
all of whom are continuing development of new hardware and software
for our favorite systems, and somehow life with what one would call
a "dead" platform remains pretty viable for the next few years (in
my eyes anyway).
