Hi Terry, I know someone else who is a Deaconess baby that lives in Texas, if
you would like her phone number, I'll clear it thru her and send it to you.
Are you just starting your search? Have you contacted Deaconess yet? I hate
to
give you a bunch of advice if you've already gone there! There is a registry
at Deaconess for adoptees and birthparents. They won't hardly speak with you
over the phone, and they request everything be put in writing. So, if you
haven't registered with them yet, I would encourage you to do so. You can
either call and request their paperwork for the registry( I'd do that) or
send
your own in. All the copies of your requests, along with any questions you
might have, need to be written down for them. You have to have these
notorized, along with a "waiver of confidentiality" form that they mail to
you. I sent my own waiver, and they mailed it back saying I had to complete
theirs.( Of course, mine was no different than theirs, it's just a
power-trip,
do it our way-thing). That also has to be notorized. Have you seen one of
these forms before? If you haven't, I'll try to get one to you so you can see
it, or you can call them and request the forms needed to join their registry,
and see it there. One of the best things I ever did was checking out books on
conducting searches. The more educated you are about the system, and the more
you understand it, the better off you are. "Know thine enemy!" I especially
liked the book by Jayne Askins, "Search". There are two of them, try to get
the second edition if you can, it's a bit more updated. Well, I'll be looking
for your posts, and I'll do my best to answer any of your questions. You hang
in there...Jan McHughes
