I would suggest the Benko Gambit. Of course, you DO have to learn a few
lines, but then, you can't expect to totally avoid some theory in any
opening (or else, play things like 1...Na6). On the other hand, the
development of black pieces is rather straightforward. Not to many
manoeuvring subtleties (I mean for us mere amateurs!). And no boring or
drawish line, that is guaranteed. Of course, you have to love tactical
skirmishes and not be afraid of gambiting a pawn right from the start.
But, hey, what is a miserable pawn for good piece play?
Last but not least, don't get discouraged by the first setback. Give
yourself a chance to tame this wild variation.
