  Or who gives the number slowly enough to write it down.  Mostly its just
a long string of numbers you have to listen to several times to get them
all.
  I give mine as 3-0-4 (short pause) 5-5-5 (short pause) 1-2-3-4 and repeat.
  But most phones now do show the number called with the call back option
by just pushing a button.  Of course if they are at a different number...
