On 09-27-05, SUE ALEXANDER said to TIM RICHARDSON: SA>TIM RICHARDSON wrote in a message to SUE ALEXANDER: TR> If a group of people are going to start a religious program or begin TR> praying, you do not have to take part if you choose not to and there TR> is no penalty. SA>Would you feel comfortable if you were stuck in a location where they SA>started bashing God? TR> I don't see how you could be *stuck* in a situation "where they TR> started bashing God". Your feet work no matter *where* you are. All TR> you have to do is get up and walk out. SA>Even at school or work? There are sometimes reasons that one would feel SA>compelled to stay. Yes...even at school or at work. You do not have to sit through such a scenario in a school. If students are allowed to just get up and leave the room when the other students want to say a prayer, they certainly can get up and walk out when a `God-bashing' session begins, whether it be in a classroom, or an auditorium during a school `assembly'. As for work.....I have never heard of a job that includes `mandatory' `God bashing' as a criteria for employment. But in both cases, there is definitely recourse to the courts: If a student does not `have' to submit to a school prayer, or saying anything about `God' while in school, and employees at a place of employment are being bombarded with religious material, or having religion `forced' on them...you can bet some judge somewhere in the system would put an immediate stop to it. Which, by the very implication, also makes the `reverse' true. TR> You want to be an *atheist*? I have no problem with that. Believe TR> whatever you choose. Who cares? SA>I am actually not an atheist... Well.....we have something in common. Because, actually, neither am I. --- *Durango b301 #PE* Historia est vitae magistra - The history is the tutor of life* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
