All excellent reasons why no government has any business mucking about
with religious issues or supporting religious causes - of ANY religion -
and just stick to governing.

Why does a church/temple/mosque/gurudwara never pay any property tax.
Why don't nationally appointed leaders of these property pay any income
taxes? Why aren't they just like any other business organizations that
provide a service for a certain fee?

If I as an earning member of any citizenry am expected to pay hard
currency why should someone else just get by by fulfilling "spiritual
needs" just because the government feels that "spiritual needs" are
important for the nation.

That's where equality gets under threat.
