subject: W95 remote printer?

Hello Jeff!
Среда Апрель 30 1997, Jeff Dunlop writes to All:

1. You can just make W95 station to pretend being another Novell server.
1a.In Control panel,Network add Service, Microsoft service for Novell and
allow
sharing of printers and (if nesessary) disks; then in Properties of sevice
et
SAP to ON and Take users list from existing _real_ Novell Netware server.
Don't
forget to assign unique name for your station - it will be the new "Novell"
server name.
1b.After restarting W95 right click desirable resourse (printer, volume,
directory) and assign users who can access resourse and access level (RO,
ull
access etc.)
1c.You may login or attach the new pseudoNovell server from any other Novell
workstation - I recommend attaching in Novell login script, else you have to
enter you name and passvord twice - for novell server and for W95
pseudoserver.
Password to attach W95 is always synchronous with Novell password.
1d.Old Novell DOS client software, VLM DOS clients and Microsoft W95 client
for
Novell networks can access the new pseudoserver as a real Novell server (with
some loss of productivity).
1e.New 32bit Novell clients for DOS can access only printers (and can see but
can't access shareable W95 volumes).
Novell client for W95 also allows printer access, but you can encounter a
et
of problems tuning client stations. Now I'm trying to handle these problems
which seems to be hardware depended.
1f.Microsoft Service for Novell Networks KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT NDS!
2.You can install Novell client on your W95 station.
2a.This software is supplied with Netware 4.1X and includes analogue of DOS
rprinter. This is standart method of printer sharing in Novell Netware.
2b.You can despool queues from an existing Novell servers, but can't make a
queue directly on your W95 station.
2c.You can't share your local volumes/directories.
2d.You can use this software with NDS as well as within old Novell 3.XX
networks.
2e.If you have Novell 3.XX network you can freely (and legally) download
nesessary client software from Novell site or mirrors.
You may also use client software supplied with any of Novell 4.1X time
ombed
and/or 1user restricted Demo. Client software included in any of those
products
is completely identical to commercial releases.
Sincerly,
            Igor
