And so it came to pass, on 11-24-96 15:01,
that Greg Cobb spake unto Bill Dobiesz:
->> Why would car audio be off topic here? It seems to me that this
->> would be the most logical place for it...especially high end gear.
GC> The Pro Audio buffs in here don't support the high-end systems
GC> found in some vehicles nor the ideals of some who put all they have
GC> into a car stereo system, and decided to not allow threads
GC> regarding car audio.
"The Pro Audio buffs" is a bit of an over-generalization, wouldn't you say,
Greg? I'm an "audio professional", working in studio, home AND live sound
fields... as well as car stereo. For me, good sound is good sound, no matter
where it is, and I like to have the best sound quality I can (or at least,
the best I can afford) whether I'm in the studio, a concert venue, my living
room, or my car.
->> Assuming that IS the case, what WOULD be the correct echo for car
->> audio topics?
GC> CAR_AUDIO is where the discussions of that nature went to. And not
GC> shockingly so, a few of those who didn't want to see it in here
GC> have managed to find their way into there anyway. :)
I really don't think the main reason behind the creation of CAR_AUDIO was to
satisfy the few whiners, but rather to remove a large portion of the traffic
in this echo, traffic which was specific to a certain audio field, to an area
designated for it... both as a more appropriate venue and to reduce the noise
in this area.
GC> It was a good idea in any event.
Agreed!
