-> > -> Beauty! Of course, there are those passing laws to have YOUR dog -> > -> labelled a "dangerous offender" even though he's far from it! :( -> > He was attacked by another dog just this morning for a total of 15 -> > dog attacks, he still didn't growl or bite. -> I'm so sorry to hear he was attacked again :( Better the little fuzzball than the 100 pound AmStaff Pit! -> > Actually he didn't seem to notice. -> > I interposed my body which wasn't much of a risk considering the dog's -> > small size. -> It's good that you were there to protect him. Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? I have to protect my Pit Bull. Until the 100 pound AmStaff attacked him the worst was the feral cat that tore him up ( and me) followed closely by a Collie that took a chunk out of him. -> > Denver county Colorado however has banned the Pit Bull breed entirely -> > and is euthanizing them all even without a complaint :-( -> Yes, I read about that .. it made me sick to read it. My niece has a pit bull -> breed (not sure which one.. she told me once, but now I've forgotten) and this -> dog is the gentlest dog I've seen. She's a real sweetheart.. luckily they live -> far from Colorado :) They're in Los Angeles. -> > Now there IS a Pit Bull about 4 blocks from here that would have killed -> > the dog that attacked mine this morning in a single bite, same dog -> > nearly killed mine. -> :( -> > Pinellas Animal Control won't label that animal dangerous unless he -> > attacks yet another. -> That is absolutely sad to hear. I guess they expect people will just avoid -> that dog's territory? and hope newcomers aren't surprised? Everyone in that neighborhood is actually terrified of that animal and it's owner. I tracked him down when his dog attacked mine. I did get him nailed for 256 dollars in fines, one 128 for no tag and not complying in time and another for no quaranteening the animal for ten days to it's own yard. I did my bit and filed an official complaint for all the good it did :-( -> > I was severely attacked once by a person I didn't know from behind, -> > I didn't _quite_ go to my knees unconscious from the blow from the club. -> > Still I refused to issue the attack command the original owners of -> > Spanky had trained him to. -> > I knew whatever the circumstances the dog would have been put down. -> Yep, you're right about that. -> > The dog remained calm and stayed as expected and I even handed his lead -> > to a stander by to hold while EMT's put a compression bandage on my head -> > wound. -> > I was soaked to the waist in my own blood. -> Sounds like an amazing dog you have there... :) He still to this day amazes me. He reads my body language, I read his. Sometimes spontaniously he'll just walk to the head of the bed and give me a kiss on the cheek. I've never struck the dog, never get mad at him and have remained extremely consistent with him, I think this is what brought out the best in him. He's never any trouble, waits patiently for his walks which always occur at the same time each day and he causes me some serious grins and giggles when he's dreaming and growls or puppy woofs. ( He sounds like a little puppy barking under water) The fuzzball from this morning didn't manage to break Spanky's skin anywhere that I could tell. It's almost comical that confrontation given the relative size and breed of dogs but my guy is getting quite old and shouldn't have to put up with aggressive dogs. In March he'll be 16 which is 25 percent older than average for the breed and he's still in very good health :-) --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
