| subject: | [AWARDS] Worst Feud [28/47] |
Message-ID: Worst Feud Award Description: To be given to the feud that nobody cared about at all this year. When they were pushing the feud on TV, you'd go to the fridge for a snack. Chavo Guerrero DON DEL GRANDE: #2 should be Stephanie v. Vince & Sable & Zach Gowen & Mr. America, but I didn't think that would fit. I don't consider Vince v. Mr. America a "separate" feud as Stephanie was an integral part of it. C FRARACCI: Steiner and Test had the feud that never ended. If Test had not been injured they'd still be feuding. Announcers should not wrestle, end of it. Eddie vs Big Show, way to bury your most over guy to a big sloth that no one has cared about for a long time. If I was looking for a conspiracy I'd swear Triple H had something to do with this. Eddie was too over so Triple H wanted him squashed? Just my opinion. PAUL ZOROVICH: I can't care about Zach Gowen, so why should I care about him feuding with Vince? Shane vs. Kane also doesn't bring the happy for me, probably because Shane ISN'T A WRESTLER! Torrie vs. Dawn Marie was just stupid. BIGDADDYLOCO: Kane vs Triple H, "The Katie Vick Feud", a new low for wrestling? JON RICHARDSON: No contest. Any feud involving repeated near-death experiences, testicles being shocked and a series of progressively ludricrous promos is easily the worst feud. Racist feuds get #2, so there slots Booker T-HHH. Feuds that involve eveery conceivable way of getting 2 people to square off but doesn't involve wrestling (cause they both suck as wrestlers) gets #3, so there's HHH-Scott Steiner. CRIMEFIGHTER: Boy this one is tough, so MANY bad feuds out there. But I pick Triple H vs. Steiner, cause it bore out two of the worst matches of the year. Ross/Lawler vs. Coach/Snow was a glaring example of why pushing the announcers above the talent was a horrible promotional move. The rest ugh, just for diversity I'll say Wilson vs. Marie was a boring, worthless feud that did nothing for anyone. Test vs. Steiner was equally as horrible, that feud would NEVER end. MICHAEL: 1st: Booker T v. Triple H. Started out with the outcome obvious as being a title change. The HHHubby decided he didn¹t want to drop the title and (HORROS!) elevate another wrestler. 2nd: Stephanie McMahon vs. Vince McMahon (& Sable). THIS was pushed as a Main Event fued?!?!?! 3rd: Shane McMahon vs. Kane. So a part-time (at best) wrestler is the ONLY man who can give Kane a run for his money? YNAE316: J.R. & King's feud with Coach and Snow was just about as bad a feud as their was this year. While the "rival announcers" bit would be a cool thing to play on the side they made the feud front and center on Raw devoting tons of promo time and match time to it. A telling thing here: my wife and I couldn't quite believe when we saw the PPV promo graphic with J.R. & King & Coach & Snow all trying to look menacing. Quite frankly we burst out with laughter at the thought of J.R. or Coach trying to look like they could kick someone's ass. The steph and Vince feud, a huge highlight of Smackdown's year, was a nice storyline in theory, right up there with Bischoff vs. Austin. Unfortunately there was a huge logic hole (as in why Vince couldn't just fire her) PLUS it subjected us to more "Lecherous Vince" scenes with Sable which NO one in there right mind wants to see. The mind-numbingly dumb antics of the Shane vs. Kane feud speak for themselves (jump starting testicles anyone?) CHRIS BIRD: The unstoppable monster Kane, the UNSTOPPABLE MONSTER who walked through any wrestler in his path - fought to a standstill by a shrimpy McMahon. Truly, one of the most moronic should-have-been-a-slaughter feuds of all time. And let us not forget that this was in a year with Triple H and Scott Steiner bringing us multiple shitburger main events and gay pushup challenges, and in a year with the War of the RAW Announcers. SCOTT CHRIST: Kane-Shane McMahon is one of the worst feuds in recent memory. Stephanie-Vince isn't far behind. The RAW commentary feud, well, jeez. You know, in most other years, something like Dudleys-La Resistance would make my top three, but there's just so much stupid non-wrestler shit this year. STEFAN TORNGREN: I would have been ok with the horrendous announcers match at Unforgiven, if it had actually lead to something new. Since it didn’t, if was just a huge waste of time. Nash vs Triple H was horrible since their friendship wasn’t established on tv. CHRISTOPHER SHEA: You know it's been a bad year for feuds when the Dudleyz vs. La Resistance feud, which I hated with the fire of a thousand burning nuns, still wasn't hateful enough to make the list. J.R./Coach and Torrie/Dawn Marie make it for filling up lots of TV time with people who can't wrestle (well, except Dawn Marie, sorta), and Test/Steiner gets in on the strength of never, never, never ending despite not drawing a calorie of heat. JOHN DONALDSON: Rhyno vs Benoit? What feud? There was a feud, you fooled me. Vince McMahon gave the same spiel every single week about how he knew Hogan was under the mask, it got stale really quick. They could have done so much better with that feud, by putting other people under the mask and what not. Steiner and Nowinski, horrible feud lowlighted by a silly political debate which saw more of Steiner's spit than intelligent banter. RICK SCAIA: Another category where there is a giant divide between the winner and everybody else. Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie sucked so badly and on so many levels that, almost a year later, I still can't believe it was allowed to happen. I don't want to say any more about it, it was just that bad. A distant second: I vote for the Feud That Would Not End between Test and Scott Steiner. It seemed a simple enough project, with a clear enough outcome, but it wound up taking the Fed about 9 months to start, execute, and pay off on the feud, severely reducing the impact that it had. Kane vs. Shane McMahon earns the three spot on the "strength" of its many retarded stunts, sometimes even more retarded dialogue, and my general belief that WWE leapt before they looked in the matter of the Unmasking of Kane. RYAN FAULCONER: A clean sweep for the WWE here with Shane vs Kane, Stephanie vs Vince and Triple H vs Kevin Nash taking all three spots. WWE really had the market cornered on the bad and tasteless feuds in 2003 and I could have listed ten more. -- Christopher Robin Zimmerman | moderator, rec.sport.pro-wrestling.info WWW: CRZ.net | AIM: SeeOurZed | co-moderator, rec.sport.pro-wrestling.moderated -- ©2003 CRZ[tm] --- Internet Rex 2.29* Origin: The gateway at Swills (1:229/3000.1) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 229/3000 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
