C FRARACCI: Announcers should stick to announcing not wrestling. If it had
been Lawler and Snow one on one it might have been ok, but Coach and JR
have no place in the ring. Steiner is just a joke and sticking him with
Cripple H proved it, hope he's gone by the new year. Same with Nash,
Triple H can put on a good match, as long as he's in their with a talented
guy (Jericho), but with a slug it exposes both as being out of shape for
main eventing a PPV.
CRIMEFIGHTER: A LOT OF NEGATIVE STAR BOUTS THIS YEAR, though not all the
noms on this list deserved it. Thankfully I can look to Scott Keith's
ratings to determine who gets the nod. The first HHH vs. Steiner got
-**½ so the WWE books it again for the next PPV and it's just as bad.
I'm voting for a variety though, so Hogan vs. Piper at -** and Ross/Lawler
vs. Coach/Snow at -**. 04/27/03 O'Haire vs. Rikishi though not nominated
should had been at -*½.
DAVID POWELL: I was forced to put Vince McMahon vs. Hulk Hogan, not so
much to slight Hogan or the concept of Vince vs, Hogan, which was
brilliant, but the incredible job that WWE did in botching the buildup and
development of what could have been easily one of the best feuds - and
promotional moves - of all time.
YNAE316: Shane vs. Bischoff, J.R. & King vs. Coach & Snow, Steph vs.
Vince. It's not a coincidence that these top billed matches all involve
NON-WRESTLERS (or active wrestlers in the case of King and Snow).
JOSH MANN: As we all know now, there's a reason Scott Stiener didn't
acutally WRESTLE before the Royal Rumble. But the fact that he was THAT
bad and THAT gassed during a match that could have swung the fortune of
what the PPV buyrates were doing at the time, it was the wrong match to
have suck ass.
CHRIS BIRD: They gave the shitty comedy match between Jim Ross/Jerry
Lawler and Jonathan Coachman/Al Snow ten minutes. Ten minutes of three
nonwrestlers and one real wrestler who had to spend most of it on the mat
so he wouldn't completely outclass everybody else. Pathetic. Nearly as
pathetic, the pair of Triple H/Scott Steiner world title matches earlier
this year, which made Steiner a total afterthought for the rest of the
year and completely exposed both HHH and Steiner as useless cripples.
TEXAS KELLY: The World title matches at Royal Rumble, No Way Out &
Judgment Day. I leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out the
common thread between the three. Hmmm, wonder if that's the reason they
all sucked?
SCOTT CHRIST: Again, I didn't see the Rumble, so I can't vote for
HHH/Steiner. Therefore, I'll go with HHH/Nash at Judgment Day, which was
super shitty and worthless with the non-finish, and the promise of ANOTHER
month of Kevin Nash on top was about as welcome as turd soup for dinner.
Shane McMahon and Bischoff at Summerslam was all-around retarded, from the
(non-)rape angle that led to it to the Coach's stupid turn, to Shane
winning anyway because Austin helped him out. Rock and Hogan couldn't
capture a fiftieth of the magic they had at Wrestlemania X8 and therefore
all we got was the shitty match and screwjob ending.
JOHN DONALDSON: So it was Moolah's birthday, bake her a bunt cake, give
her a reading lamp, you don't have to let her beat Victoria. Any match
Jim Ross was involved in this year was pretty bad, he makes David Arquette
look good.
THE CUBS FAN: Please please let Pierroth disappear for six years ASAP. And
take everyone he's feuding with him; I'll sacrifice Violencia if it gets
me rid of everyone else.
